Portrait Package

Our portrait package includes up to one-hour at one location, or in studio. You'll then be able to select up to 10 images as screen-res digital files from all of your proofs. You can also order professional prints directly from our site.

Underwater

We specialise in surface (to 10m) water photography and filming as well as underwater dive photography and filming. Derek uses the latest water housings and ports to ensure the photography and filming is of the highest production standards for 4K output.

Drone

With his P102 license almost complete, Derek is able to fly through a range of environments and locations. Derek uses the latest technology available from DJI to deliver jaw-dropping 4K film sequences and high-quality stills. When necessary we  also shoot from helicopters for projects that require the next level in production quality.

Let me capture all the moments of your special day. My approach is to be a fly on the wall with minimal direction to allow the day to flow naturally. Our base package includes photography from the bride's preparation, the ceremony and through to the cutting of the cake at the reception. We can also assist with location options, transport and venues. Get in touch.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you travel for photography?

Yes, I travel throughout New Zealand and internationally as required. I have a fully mobile studio set-up in the North Island alongside my studio in Dunedin. For longer duration assignments I also have a fully set-up mobile home to work from when on the road.

2. Do you help with planning the sessions?

Yes, as soon as you confirm your booking I will get to work on pre-production. For portraits this will be location planning and scheduling. For ad campaigns that will involve working with your marketing team to create a shotlist ahead of planning the shoot itself.

3. What is your cancellation or rescheduling policy?

Weather schedule changes are free. Rescheduling a shoot is also possible. I use commonsense regarding any personal issues that may affect a shoot date change. Cancellations within a week of a shoot will incur a charge equivalent to 50% of the shoot fee.

4. Do you offer digital files, prints, or albums?

Yes, we do offer a mixture of digital files, prints and albums. For prints we use one of New Zealand's best printers for truly outstanding results using archival inks and papers. We also partner with Queensberry to produce beautiful albums for our clients.

5. Do you also do videography?

Yes, I shoot both stills and films for my clients. However, I only do one the other for each job, not both. Filming requires quite a different set of equipment and way of thinking compared with stills. If you want both I can recommend a second filmer/photographer to work alongside me.

6. Can I request specific poses or shots?

Yes, your photoshoot is completely about you. My goal is to work with you or your creative director to deliver the shots that you want from the shoot. Whether you come with lots of ideas, or want me to help direct you, we will make some stunning photographs together.

7. Can we meet before the session?

Yes, of course! Once you book or inquire about a session I will arrange a time for us to meet up and discuss your requirements for your photography. We can start to plan out the shoot locations and what will be required to help us create the best photography.

8. How long till I receive the final photos?

Our post-production is all done in-house and can take anywhere from 24 hours to three weeks. We usually produce advances within a day of the shoot and can schedule in extra resource for time-sensitive and quick turnaround assignments.
